Raiders Finish in Top Ten At "South Georgia's Toughest Tournament"

Without 4 starters the Orange Park Raiders traveled to Valdosta, GA and finished in 9th place after two days of wrestling.  "The guys who wrestled, wrestled well," Head Coach Chad Parker said.  "I'm proud of their effort.  This is not an easy tournament, and for the team to place in the top 10 speaks to how talented we are as a team."

The Raiders had one placer in 140lber Anthony Owens, who finished as champion.  "Owens had 5 matches and 5 pins," Parker said.  "He dominated every opponent he wrestled."

The Raiders are gearing up for the last month of the regular season.  "It's the stretch run now," Parker said.  "One month left, and the state series begins.  We had two-a-days over the holidays, and that has truly elevated our wrestling.  Guys were able to add weapons to their offense and we, as a coaching staff, were able to identify and work on specific weaknesses.  We're not quite there yet, but with one month left, we will be."

The Raiders next match is a home dual with county rival Fleming Island.  The match is also senior night.
